How to embed a TALKI forum into Joomla

talki easy to embed forumI recently tried embedding TALKI into my Joomla site.  TALKI is a forum you can embed with a short and simple line of code.  You can embed your own empty forum or use an example forum that is already filled with a number of posts.  I chose the latter option; it makes it look like people actually visit your site!  TALKI is a web 2.0 application in as much as: it allows you to sign in with Twitter, Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Open ID etc.  Your avatar is automatically imported, but that seems about it.  Apart from that, apart from the Wordpress plugin that is offered,  it's pretty much a straightforward forum.  If you want to go for the paid options more features are available, but If you have a website with PHP you are much better off installing a forum like SMF or PHPbb.  With a self installed application, you obviously have complete control over content, user management, attachments, add on extensions etc.; the whole shebang and completely free.

TALKI is a new startup and the developers are upgrading the system and fixing bugs.  Many users on the TALKI forum have suggested improvements to the system.  There is a section on the site that allows you to vote for particular improvements: http://talki.uservoice.com/forums/42301-general It is here that I noticed a number of users asking if there was a way to embed TALKI into Joomla.  I worked out a simple way of doing this when I messed around with the program; I posted the solution to the customer feedback forum.  To my great surprise, I found that my post had been deleted the next day.  I checked my original post on the embedded TALKI forum and some of my posts there had also been deleted! (I think I mentioned one of their links wasn't working).  No, I did not engage in any foul language, flaming or bad netiquette of any kind.  This is of course the main drawback with a forum like this.  Not only do you have no control over the style and formatting, you have no control of the content.

Since TALKI's admin has removed my instructions on how to embed it into Joomla; I will share them again here:

E-mail Print PDF
This is one of the huge welcoming signs for Go...

Are you building contextual one way back links with your RSS Feed? If you are webmaster and you are already using RSS Feeds to help promote your website, you still may be missing out on one of the most powerful RSS Tips out there. Many people are glad to see the title to their post show up as a link on different sites that display and aggregate various RSS Feeds and this is a nice bonus of RSS and atom site feeds alike. However, there is another way you can be getting a lot more out of every new post you make to you site and get more link juice for absolutely free.

The information I am going to share with you here is usually hidden away in some $100.00 program or is something that you may find a application for sale that will do for you. Instead of trying to separate you and your money, I plan on showing you how easy it is to automatically build back links using your existing RSS Feed. This simple, yet effective RSS tip has changed the way many people think about link building and how they market each and every website they own.

Windows Movie Maker

This passage has been divided into five parts: 1.What do you know about Kodak camcorders 2.How much do you know about codec? 3.How to import Kodak MOV files to windows movie maker 4.How to export video files from windows movie maker 5.How to upload WMM files to YouTube

Most of my friends have got one of the Kodak camcorders from the Kodak family. Most of the time, they will feel proud to have such an easy-to-use and high-qualified camcorder. However, when they try to import Kodak default MOV files to windows movie maker, or upload MOV files to YouTube, they will regret to have bought such inconvenient camera.

Actually I am one of the Kodak digital camera fans. I know all Kodak cameras (Kodak zi6, Kodak zi8, Kodak Zx1, Kodak PLAYSPORT and Kodak EasyShare) have their own specifications to fit for different customers.

How to Write Successfully for the Web: Humans vs. Search Engines

E-mail Print PDF
Partial map of the Internet based on the Janua...

Image via Wikipedia

Most people think that writing for the web is same thing as writing a high school essay or writing to friends, but it really isn't. When you write content for the web you should be on the lookout for a number of things you would not usually be concerned with in any other written document; as well as things you would be. You need to ensure that your web content not only makes sense to human beings but also to search engines. Human beings are looking for information in your web content while search engines, on the other hand, are looking for anything that shows that the information you have to share is relevant enough to be included in their list of search results for related information.

Keywords are one way of ensuring that search engines successfully index your web content. Keywords are specific phrases that humans use in search engines when searching for information about particular subject topics. Keywords should be used reasonably in web content material and being reasonable usually requires anything from 1 to 3 keywords per 100 words (this is 'keyword density'). You should also avoid creating content that is keyword-laden for search engines but makes a boring read for human beings. Good web content must satisfy both purposes in order to make your content a success on the web.
