Low cost web hosting services are basically meant for small sized and medium sized enterprises as they are provided at highly affordable and lower costs. The web hosting services that are provided at lower costs can often be analyzed thoroughly only to find out that the whole package is devoid of certain features and the levels of quality are not really up to the mark that one would usually expect. The most common anomaly that can be seen in cheap hosting services is the uptime that is usually promised up to 99.9 per cent, drops down considerably and is nowhere near to the mark that is mentioned in the figures. But other than that, there are many other benefits of having low cost services that do the organization a lot of good and ensure that they pay rich dividends to the enterprise buying them out.

The end user that purchases these services gets the liberty to design his own website, on the local computer and also gets the liberty to use his own website editor. Other software that can be used effortlessly by the end user includes the likes of Dreamweaver, FrontPage, HTML Editor and Coffee Cup. Those not having enough time to prepare customized websites are given the choice of having them made. The web pages can be updated anytime and can also be transferred to the server in accordance to the convenience of the end user. Domain name registration services are also provided by the service provider in the web hosting services that finally get deployed.

#qanda & Twitter | The Future Of TV?

E-mail Print PDF

the future of TV?Watching ABC TV's Q&A while tracking comments on Twitter has become an obligatory combination.  Where else can you watch a discussion involving prominent social commentators and review public responses in real time?  All you need to do is search twitter.com with the hashtag #qanda and follow the discussion which is always very lively.  Q&A is breaking new ground as an interactive forum which allows viewers to participate, not only by asking questions in the studio but by posting questions and video questions to the Q&A website and by creating 'mashups'.  Mashups are short, user generated multimedia presentations.  The Q&A site offers a large range of video footage which can be downloaded and integrated into a funny political satire.  The nature of the program and the site is truly democratic allowing viewers to upload their videos and have have political comments aired on national TV.

The End of Twitter?

E-mail Print PDF

One of my followers on Twitter yesterday, and I wished I could remember the User name that posted it, posted a link marked as "What if Twitter shut down?" You can read the entire article here.

After reading the post, I wondered who dropped the ball on this? And what if indeed Twitter could be ordered to shut down, what would it mean to any of the other social-media sites like Facebook? What would this mean to other micro-blogging sites? Are they infringing on TechRadium's Patent also?

One would think that with the success of Twitter, TechRadium would work with Twitter to see how they could build on the usefulness of Twitter. Last I read, 4 million users were registered with Twitter. You cannot dismiss a community of 4 million people from one day to another.

Cable Companies vs. Internet

E-mail Print PDF

Pcontinental Television Set 1960's With the analog signal gone, many TV's rely on a converter box to pick up the Digital signal that is being broadcasted over the air, if you are not a subscriber to a Cable network or to a Satellite company.

And if you are like me and refuse to pay the outrageous amount of dollars that these companies are charging, you will either have to opt for the converter boxes, or you will turn to the Internet to watch some of the shows offered on Cable TV.

The major broadcasting stations have available web content for some of the shows, but if your show is not listed in their broadcasting line up you have to find another way to gain access to them. Which can be a bit unnerving sometimes, but in the long run pays off.

Why twitter is the new social media buzz

E-mail Print PDF
For people who use twitter frequently, no explanation as to its appeal and benefits are required. Those who are not familiar with it seem to find it a bit mystifying; so I will attempt to demystify it, at least a little.

twitter followers
twitter allows you to enter short, 140 character posts on any topic you wish. It allows you to enter the url of your blog or website in your user profile. It is unlike a chat room in that it is primarily web based and what you post is visible to the public and to search engines. The obvious benefit of this visibility is that it has the potential to increase the number of visitors to your site and exposure of products or services you might offer. Restricting tweets to only 140 characters might be difficult for some, but to others this is a convenience; it is never necessary to spend time creating long messages and abbreviation becomes almost an art form.

Before you gain an appreciable exposure, it is necessary to build up a number of followers, however, you are unlikely to attract many followers if all you post is links promoting your site. It is necessary to engage in meaningful discussions with other users and tweet topics which others are actually interested in. While it is easy to simply follow a great many twitterers, the ideal situation is parity between those that you follow, and those that follow you.

Different people use twitter for different reasons. Some use it primarily as a social outlet, but an increasing number of people (and large companies) in media , marketing and sales use it because of twitters’ searchability and world wide audience. For example, I had a problem with a WordPress plugin and mentioned it in a tweet; within hours I received an email from the company which distributes it offering help. I tweeted my interest in installing a content management system on my site; within minutes I received a message from an associated company offering installation help.

Another reason for the incredible growth in twitter’s popularity is its connectivity. A number of client applications (like twhirl and tweetdeck) are available to allow users additional functions and convenience. An ever increasing number of websites offer a range of services such as statistics, user management and posting options. (check out big tweet) As far as I’m concerned, if you have a website and you want to reach visitors, a twitter presence is essential.
